Description: |
Fluid Dynamics is a discipline that has increasing
importance in biology. The aim of this course is to
introduce newcomers to Bio-fluid Mechanics and also to
present a state of the art as well as the latest development
in the field. In this Lecture Series, initial presentations
will provide a theoretical background on respiratory and
cardiovascular Biofluid Mechanics. They will be followed by
extensive courses on experimental and numerical modelling of
the circulatory system and flows within the lung. These
courses will be illustrated by applications such as
mechanical ventilation and aerosol depositions in the
alveoli with in vivo and in vitro measurements techniques
that can be used to characterise the flow.
