Description: |
Over the last years, both the aeroengine and the
stationary gas turbine industry have deployed intensive
efforts into research on blade monitoring sensors because
of their potential in terms of advanced structural and
aeromechanical condition monitoring. These sensors provide
the capability of measuring blade tip clearance and blade
time of arrival, which in turn can allow the detection of
faults such as blade erosion, rubbing, cracking, high
cycle fatigue. Still, a variety of clearance sensors exist
together with specific data reduction techniques but are
still used in laboratory environments, not yet on engines
in commercial service. During this Lecture Series, world
experts will present the fundamentals of sensor technology
and measurement chain, and examples of applications in
fans, compressors and turbines showing the different data
analysis techniques allowing to interpret clearance
evolutions, blade vibrations, crack detection, etc. Their
different contributions should allow to set new
perspectives for the future developments in this area.
