Are you a Naval Architect working in the marine or
offshore industry?
Are you frustrated by solely relying on physical
testing and empirical methods?
Do you have to answer questions such as:
- how to modify bilge keels to prevent
excessive vessel rolling?
- optimal thruster positioning?
- need accurate hull drag prediction for
transportation of a Semi-Submersible?
- understand wave slam loads and enhancement
before going to the tank?
Attend
this seminar and you will discover how Naval Architects
from companies like Alan C. McClure Associates (ACMA), a
major Drilling Contractor and others, have added STAR-CCM+ -
the leading flow and thermal simulation tool (CFD) - to
their toolkit, and how it is helping them to answer both
design and operational questions.
Location: Houston Marriott Westchase, 2900 Briarpark
Dr.
Date and Time: May 24, 2011,
9:00am - 3:00pm

Donald Burris, P.E - is a
skilled Naval Architect and hydrodynamacist who has been at

Harris Reynolds from Diamond
Offshore Drilling will discuss their use of CFD to improve
the roll dampening of Clipper (a Drillship), by studying
various anti-roll mechanisms, and then verifying the CFD
results with scale model tests at Texas A&M University.
