Commercialization of a fermentation process in the
Biotech, CPI and the Alternative Energy Industry has two
key aspects. The first involves finding the right strains
of bacteria to create a desired product. The second piece
is to maximize the production from these strains using
efficient engineering processes. This means that
dissolution and transfer of oxygen and safety of the
scale-up process need to be aligned with
(critical/relevant) economic factors. As the complexity
of these operations continues to increase, poor scale-up
designs lead to incrementally lower production yield,
