Third Symposium on OpenFOAM in Wind Energy

The Third Symposium on OpenFOAM® in Wind Energy (SOWE) is
co-hosted by 'Dipartimento di Meccanica' and
'Dipartimento di Energia' at Politecnico di Milano,
bringing together people who use OpenFOAM® for wind
energy applications. The symposium aims to present the
state of the art in wind energy computational approach
using OpenFOAM®, allowing people to share knowledge, and
identifying common problems that should be addressed.

| Description: |
The Symposium will cover a wide spread of topics linked
to the wind energy research area.
Most relevant topics are reported below and the
presentations will be arranged according to the described
arguments. The proposed topics are not limiting, since
they are not intended to limit the participation to the
discussion on other wind energy applications in OpenFOAM.

+ Atmospheric Flows (including flow over complex
terrains and sea)
+ HAWT Wind Turbine Aerodynamics and Wakes
+ Vertical Axis Wind turbines
+ Small scale and urban wind energy applications
+ Site Assessment and Wind Plant Aerodynamics
+ Offshore Wind Aerodynamics and Hydrodynamics
+ Other (including meshing, algorithms, post-processing,
parallel performance, etc.)
The First Edition of SOWE was hosted by ForWind and
Fraunhofer IWES in Oldenburg (Germany).
The Second Edition of SOWE was hosted by NREL and RASEI
in Boulder (Colorado - USA).
