This event is free, but registration is required as spaces are limited. Sign up to reserve your seat today. Erosion and corrosion cause engineering headaches throughout the oil and gas industry. Whether it’s expensive erosion testing of downhole tools, designing/maintaining pipework and subsea equipment, potentially budget-busting decisions to use corrosive resistant materials or protect through inhibitors, to cyclone separators for FCCs — erosion and corrosion questions are impacting budgets across the industry. To take the specific example of production pipework — roughly 50% of all wells produce sand, and 10% of pipework failures are due to erosion. CFD simulation is increasingly being used by engineers to help make informed design and operational decisions relating to erosion and corrosion. This one-day, educational seminar will provide an introduction to the area, background on CFD erosion and corrosion models, and give examples of how STAR-CCM+ is being used in the design of production systems to reduce project risk as well as capital and operating expenditures. This workshop will feature presentations from Wild Well Control’s Advanced Engineering Group, as well as CD- adapco's Dr. Oleh Baran and Dr. Chris Lueth. The seminar will also feature live demonstrations of STAR-CCM+, so attendees will be able to try for themselves during the hands-on session. About The Presenters: Dr. Chris Lueth will introduce STAR-CCM+’s hierarchy of corrosion models, from empirical to mechanistic, providing both model background and applications. Before joining CD-adapco, Chris completed a PhD at Stanford University and was a post-doc researcher at Sandia National Laboratories. |
