FLOW-3D Workshop for Water & Environmental Flows
|
Flow Science CFD Engineers will demonstrate water &
environmental simulation workflows by modeling two case use
examples: a power-plant effluent discharge and a
pump-station jet outflow. Key modeling features include open
channel free surface hydraulics, scour & sediment
deposition, and thermal plume analysis. This workshop will
be held on Monday, June 27 in conjunction with the 6th
International Symposium on Hydraulic Structures.

Description: |
Participants will learn:
- How to import geometry and set up the basic hydraulics
of these two applications, including meshing and
initial and boundary conditions for both models.
- How to add complexity by including density
driven dynamics, heat transfer, sediment
transport and scour, particles, scalars and
turbulence.
- How to use sophisticated visualization tools such as
FlowSight to effectively analyze and convey
simulation results.
- About advanced topics, including air
entrainment and bulking phenomena, shallow water and hybrid
3D / shallow water modeling, and modeling tailings using
slurries and non-Newtonian FLOW-3D
models.
