Tridiagonal Solutions Inc, a global chemical process
enhancement solutions provider, will be hosting a live free
webinar on “Fundamental Understanding Of Solids Flow
Processes : A Key To Successful Process Development” on 28th
July, 2016 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am CDT, 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm
CEST and 3:00 pm – 4: 00 pm UK.
Solids flow processes are practically everywhere in the
process industries - and they have been around for a long
time too. Some well known examples are pneumatic conveying,
blast furnaces, fluidized beds, tablet coating, spray drying
etc. Despite being in practice for a long time, however,
the development of such processes is still rife with
empiricism largely due to a lack of fundamental
understanding of solids flow behavior. Solids flow is very
different from fluid flow principles of fluid flow cannot be
applied to flow of solids.
This webinar will provide insights on modeling techniques
that help engineers understand solids flow better. The
Discrete Element Method (DEM) can be used to realistically
simulate solids flow. DEM/CFD hybrid models have been used
to gain fundamental understanding of processes such as
granular mixing (and segregation), spray drying, roasting
and calcination of catalyst support. Examples demonstrating
the successful use of DEM, CFD techniques for process
improvement in the Oil & gas, Pharmaceutical and Chemical
(specialty, fine and consumer) industries will be presented.
