The Fifth Symposium on OpenFOAM in Wind Energy (SOWE 2017)
Conference description:

The Fifth Symposium on OpenFOAM® in Wind Energy (SOWE 2017)
is hosted by the Department of Wind Energy at CENER
(National Renewable Energy Centre of Spain). As in the
previous editions, the symposium offers a space to share the
latest developments based on OpenFOAM® for Wind Energy
applications. The symposium brings together experts,
beginners, developers and final end users to discuss the
research results and techniques to solve the new demands of
the Wind Energy sector.

The First Edition of SOWE was hosted by ForWind and
Fraunhofer IWES in Oldenburg (Germany).

The Second Edition of SOWE was hosted by NREL and RASEI in
Boulder (Colorado, USA).

The Third Edition of SOWE was hosted by Politecnico di
Milano in Milan (Italy).

The Fourth Edition of SOWE was hosted by Delft University of
Technology (The Netherlands).
Date and venue:

The conference will be at 26, 27, 28 April 2017 at the
ADItech Headquarters.

Topics:

The symposium will cover a wide spread of topics linked to
the wind energy research area. Most relevant topics are
reported below and the presentations will be arranged
according to the described arguments. The proposed topics
are not limiting, since they are not intended to limit the
participation to the discussion on other wind energy
applications in OpenFOAM®.

    Atmospheric flows (including flow over complex terrains
and sea) 
    HAWT & VAWT wind turbine aerodynamics and wakes
    Vertical Axis Wind turbines
    Small scale and urban wind energy applications
    Site assessment and wind plant aerodynamics
    Offshore wind aerodynamics and hydrodynamics
    Other (including meshing, algorithms, post-processing,
parallel performance, etc.)

Call for abstracts:

Abstract deadline: 1 March 2017 (late submissions could
still be considered, email abstracts to sowe2017@cener.com)
Abstract selection notification: 8 March 2017
Paper deadline: 21 April 2017
