von Karman Institute Lecture Series: Liquid fragmentation in gas flows
These lecture series, supported by the Science and Technology Organization, will take place from 11 to 13 September 2017 at the von Karman institute. These lecture series provide the state of the art knowledge accumulated by the few experts worldwide who master the topic of liquid fragmentation in gas flows both on experimental and numerical modeling field.
Date: September 11, 2017 - September 13, 2017
Location: Waterloosesteenweg 72, Sint-Genesius-Rode, Belgium

Contact Email: secretariat@vki.ac.be
Organizer: von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics
Application Areas: Fire and Safety, Coating, Painting and Printing, Aerospace, Environmental
Special Fields: Combustion, Reactive Flows, Multiphase Flows, Aerodynamics, Hypersonic Flows, Detonations
Type of Event: Course, International

Description:

The organizers expect that the audience of the lecture series will be able to make decisions on the investigation or on modeling of phenomena including liquid fragmentation in gas flows with more relevant knowledge base. In the frame of military applications the liquid fragmentation happens in supersonic or hypersonic flows or during detonations in most cases. The modeling of liquid phase during detonation or intersepcion of high speed enemy vehicles is a complicated task that necessitates this special course to be held for the corresponding audience. There are civil industrial applications, like metal powder production for painting, anti-corrosive coating applications, thus this topic is also planned to be involved.

The lecture series director is Prof. Jean-Marie Buchlin from the von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics, Belgium.
