What’s new in Lattice Boltzmann Method?
Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM) is a mesoscopic method for fluid dynamics simulations. Traditional formulation of LBM has a number ofseveral limitations. In this talk, we discuss a number of recent developments, which help overcome these challenges to significantly broaden the application areas for LBM. These developments include an entropic approach to handle numerical stability and higher order formulations to handle transonic/supersonic flows.

Abstract: Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM) is a mesoscopic method for fluid dynamics simulations. Traditional formulation of LBM has several limitations. In this talk, we discuss a number of recent developments, which help overcome these challenges to significantly broaden the application areas for LBM. These developments include an entropic approach to handle numerical stability and higher order formulations to handle transonic/supersonic flows. Speaker: Santosh Ansumali is a Professor at Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Bangalore. Earlier he served as faculty at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He co-founded SankhyaSutra Labs to facilitate application of theory for practical problems. He has published about 65 papers in leading journals and conference proceedings. He has won various awards including Young Associate Indian Academy of Science, Ramanujan Fellowship and Dr APJ Abdul Kalam HPC Award.
