Description: |
Purpose of the School
Numerical modeling have dramatically increased our understanding of physical processes
in fluid mechanics and their technical applications.
In the Summer School 2004 we will examine the use of supercomputational simulations
for rotating fluids and address related engineering problems.
As an example for such an interplay between theory and experiment we discuss
the simulation of geophysical fluid flows under microgravity
(GEOFLOW)
on board the International Space Station ISS.
The main topics considered in the Summer School are
1. Couette Flow Dynamics
|
2. Hydrodynamic Instability
|
3. Magnetohydrodynamics and Dynamo Theory
|
4. Magnetic Taylor-Couette Flow
|
5. The GEOFLOW Experiment
