Description: |
This course intends to give an overview of the problems that are specific for micro and nano-gasturbines. The field of application extends from small gasturbines for distributed power, to small portable power units and propulsion systems. Attention will be given to problems resulting from low Reynolds number flows with large heat transfer and surface roughness, materials and maximum operation temperatures, impact of internal heat transfer on cycle efficiency, small heat exchangers design and construction, small combustion chambers and fuels, high speed generators and manufacturing techniques. Both experimental and numerical approach will be presented. (RTO-AVT-VKI Lecture Series).
