NAFEMS Accredited Computational Fluid Dynamics Summer School
|
The objective of the course is to empower users with tools
and techniques in CFD, which can be applied to a wide range
of industrial applications.
This course will provide understanding of the mathematical
foundation and focus on a detailed overview of the physical
models necessary for applications in Chemical, Civil,
Environmental and Mechanical Engineering and many other
fields of engineering.

Description: |
The aim of Day 1 of the course is to introduce the
participants to the mathematical equations and techniques
that underlie CFD. This involves an overview on integration
and discretisation techniques, at a conceptual and numerical
level, linking with the options available in commercial CFD
codes. It leads on to a discussion of initial and boundary
conditions, followed by an overview of numerical solution
techniques used in contemporary CFD.
Day 2 focuses on turbulence modelling and then on multiphase
flows - both are important in any practical CFD application.
The practical sessions in the afternoons of both days will
expose the participants to a series of case studies using a
commercial CFD code, each case focussing on pre-processing,
solving and then post-processing the results.
