Requestor & System Profile: Steel company in Canada seeks software for dynamic flow-modeling (non-steady-state) oxygen gas piping distribution system. System is complex, with many end-users requiring varying gas flows and pressures. System contains numerous flow control elements, and multiple large-storage accumulators (‘tank farms’) for cushioning of high-peak demands. The source gas is supplied by a third party producer, whose system is also complex and supplies various other customers. Key focus: The software must have the capability to assess the moderating effect of accumulators (the ‘suck and blow’) on the whole system, and reveal any shortfall in flow and pressure capability for any point in the system. The software should have ‘What if’ capability for easy alteration of model; for example, show the effects of increased storage i.e. operator-discerned or program highlighted.
